Last year, while in an abusive relationship, I fell pregnant on the copper IUD. It had slipped into my cervix and was sitting there for goodness knows how long without me knowing. My partner coerced me into having an abortion. Roll on almost a year later and I get the copper coil fitted again (yes, it was a mad idea)! I’ve experienced nothing but problems including UTIs, a lot of pain and soreness when I go to the toilet, spotting in between cycles, bleeding during sex, fatigue and heightened anxiety/feeling like I’m going mad. I also have had a lot of hair loss. There are strands of hair always falling out all over the place. I have also experienced severely heavy periods, with giant clots, resulting in anemia.
I had the coil removed once and for all yesterday and am so relieved!!
